I'm Shining Yu, a UI/UX designer and software engineering student at George Mason. I design in Figma and build in code, so the details make it all the way to the final product.
Most recently I was Lead Designer and project manager on Colliseam, a community platform for junior developers and designers. I led a team of seven from discovery through delivery and built the design system in Figma that kept the product consistent as it grew. Before that I led design on Markpacks, a showcase site for Minecraft mod packs, prototyping the layouts in Figma and CSS.
I also like fixing messy workflows. At Mindset2Learn Tutoring I run tutor hiring end to end and replaced paper applications and manual scheduling with an automated pipeline for nine tutors. Before university I served two years as Military Police in the Singapore Armed Forces, supervising night shifts. I'm fluent in English and Mandarin, and my drumming channel on TikTok has 50K followers and 32M views.
